The human side of Pelwyn
This space is a little more human.
It’s where I share thoughts that don’t quite belong in a strategy doc or policy draft - reflections, side notes, the odd personal update. Sometimes it’s about work. Sometimes it’s about where I’ve been, what I’ve noticed, or what’s sitting in the back of my head when I’m not writing reports.
Not everything here is polished or purposeful - and that’s the point. It’s a slower space. Less structured. More honest.
No big insights every time. Occasionally, I just needed a break from HR!
June reflections: heatwaves, HR horizons… and another pastel in Portugal
June brought quiet pressure and sharp questions - from rising temperatures and legal reform to the growing weight HR is expected to carry. A return trip to Portugal offered space to reflect: maybe the real challenge now isn’t doing more, but choosing what to let go of.
May reflections: sun, scrutiny, and the strain beneath
May brought political tension, policy shifts, and a personal reminder of pace - from Portugal’s sunshine and Pastel de nata to deeper questions about whether HR has reached its functional limit. In a month of quiet strain, the case for slowing down felt clearer than ever.
April reflections: lighter, sharper, and keeping an eye on the algorithms
April brought sharpness and recalibration - from the UK’s cautious policy shifts to deepening conversations about AI in HR. A personal health reset, a sunny trip to Spain, and fresh energy all fed into a month of lighter steps and clearer thinking.
March observations: policy shifts, deeper breaths, and a first hint of warmth
March brought a mix of policy shifts, personal recalibration, and the first real signs of spring. From extended redundancy protections to global ripple effects of Trump’s return, it’s been a month of looking outward while staying grounded.
February notes: a small rest
A slow-paced reflection on February - from missed putts and West End nights to quiet reminders about patience, perspective, and staying with the process when things feel a bit uncertain.
January thoughts: a quiet start
A quiet reflection on the start of the year - thinking about work, rest, professional growth, and the pace we set for ourselves when everything around us starts moving quickly again.
